Fault code

Does anyone know the fault code for the amber warning light on a 1.8
Freelander 2002 model

Engine it's amber I know it's the lambda sensor just don't know witch one

How are you going to find out without hooking it up to a code reader?

Change them both or buy a reader do the basic ones on eBay do the job

But if I buy a reader it will only give me the code not the location or am I wrong I've never used one before usually get ripped of by the garage

The code you get will point you exactly at what the fault is. So if it was an O2 sensor the code will be something like. "O2 sensor 1 on bank 1 out of range". Or "O2 sensor 2 on bank 1 out of range". Being a single bank engine, it'll always say bank 1, but it means "the" 1st or 2nd sensor is faulty.

Yes you will. It'll sensor 1 or 2 on bank 1. Sensor 1 is in the manifold, sensor 2 is after the cat.

Got the mini ELM 327 today but there is no instructions
So do I just plug it in and pair with the phone ??

I've got a app for my phone but apart from that I don't have a clue
I think I have to plug the ELM into the car first then pair with my torque app

The ELM device gets its power from the ODB socket - so you have to plug it in first for it "to wake up" and be seen by the phone.

They usually have a little LED on them to show they have power and are on.

You should then be able to "see" it in the Torque app and pair with it, even if the device can't communicate with the car's ECUs.
