what have I got to do with this

Me

Got ya!!!!
Thinks I might have to look into that myself as my winch slows the fekin motor down it draws that much and once I've got it looking like Blackpool illuminations I'm going to be buggered!!
I will watch you very closely and learn from the master !!! Or I will learn from your mistakes ! Which ever is appropriate at the time!!!
I used to run a Tmax split charge but the little electric box of tricks fried itself and wiped out the second battery, hardly surprising as it had heck of a lot of amps running through it over the years I had it on there, did a lot of winching with both batteries running through it when I lived in Holland too.

I decided that moving over to a stand alone 100A alternator with a 800CCA yellow top Optima battery would be the best way forward for future winching and running of auxiliary circuits, can run all the lighting off the second circuit as well as the Webasto thermo top aux heater with power to spare I think.

so will the split charge just be like the one I've
put on my motorhome just heavier duty!! Got 2 leisure batteries and the cranking battery !! As this has never crossed my mind about all the sh1t I'm running in the disco until you mentioned it and I'm glad you did!
I might use an alternator off a gay lander as they must be mahoosive, to run straightners, curling tongs and hairdriers!!!

Yes the split charger is exactly the same, some are a simple Voltage Sensing Relay (VSR for short), some are more complex like the Tmax that can manually link and unlink the batteries as well as showing battery voltage for both starter and aux battery.

Second alternator on a V8, hmmn, quick google necessary.

Thanks for all your assistance!!! Well sum of yous anyhoo ;)
Its knocky out time! Probs be back on at 4,15 am
Don't know why but that's when I wake up out of my coma !!! Enjoy your evening everyone

Over and out

Yeah, but your wiper arms are rusty :p

I know, I got some primer before Christmas and some satin black rattle cans to do the wiper arms and I want to take the winch bumper off and rub back some scabby bits from some rock damage and get it re-painted, on top of that I want to re-route the cables and move the solenoid around ready for the new battery and aux cable routing.

You'll be busy tomorrow then :D

Not sure about new fangled bits on LRs of a certain age. To me, it jars.

Now I'm no purist but I think that bits that at least appear contemporary do look better? I'll happily concede that functionality can be the deciding factor however. Equally it's your egg an' up to you what you do with it but @Weldy did ask.

All them LEDs.. might as well hang a disco ball on a fishin rod and aim some lasers at it. :p

There. Honest. I'll get me coat.

Not likely, some of us have to work for a living :p

Been considering lopping off the big A bar and dropping the light bar down onto the bumper, can easily cover the holes with a nice chequer plate bonnet cover.
Do it, just think how much more aerodynamic it'll be
