I was hoping someone would say there was a button somewhere that id missed that's all, I wasn't expecting to need guru's and sailors to fix a car!
It does look like ill be needing to get the bandits (Land Rover) in though

It would be good to find someone local as from what I've hear I should expect future issues! I'm in no rush, it is only the interior lights after all so ill wait a while and see if someone does offer to help.

Not sure if Saint knows anyone as he is Surrey way, the only Indy I know is near Maidstone and they have autologic.
If you plan on keeping the car for a while it may pay to get your own diagnostics but being honest we don’t see many Sports on here and I personally don’t know anything about them. I have a Faultmate that can access the many settings on mine as it is locked to a specific vehicle but there are a lot of settings that relate to interior lights and other features that can be altered. I’m not sure why somebody would want to deactivate the main interior light if it’s possible though.
Have a look around at the Gap diagnostics kit to see if it works with your vehicle and if there is an option to alter settings relating to the interior lighting or at least read any fault codes.
If you look for an independent locally they will charge you to read any fault codes and at £30-£60 a go it will soon add up to the cost of buying your own kit if the Sport is anywhere near as unreliable as the L322

hi ,
shame my gap iid didn’t work for ur , as it’s locked to my D3 , otherwise i would have been more than happy to have plugged it in foc for u
maybe this won’t be of any use what so ever ,
i had a nightmare with my lights where some would and wouldn’t come on, found it was a faulty circuit board in the centre light and also some of the leds weren’t canbus and sent all sort of issues around the lights
what i done was, removed the lights one by one and used a multimeter to ensure i had voltage , then at least knew the wiring was ok up to each lights
then wrote down which light did and didn’t work
wasn’t there a strange mod on the later sport where the back didn’t come on with the front ???
try using a multimeter on each light first , won’t cost u anything then
also have u got the dial light brightness switch on ur dashboard , do the interior lights get dimmer / brighter when u move it plse
one tip if i may , ensure when u pull the light connectors off they don’t earth onto the body
will have a look via the gap iid settings for ur model and see if there’s any setting for interior lights sorry i couldn’t be more help

You mentioned LEDs and if there are any anywhere on the vehicle it would be worth removing them temporarily to test if they are having an effect as when I fitted some to my number plate lights I had errors on every lighting system come up, except the number plate ones strangely enough.

, many thks must admit , i learnt the hard way when it came to my lights and Leds , caused me all sorts of problems
then just started with a multimeter and went through the entire system
seen reports on the D3 even a normal blown brake light bulb can make the system throw its dummy out and light up the dashboard like a xmas tree
thks, have mentioned it in the past ref Leds in the disco section
hopefully the knowledge i’ve gained on the D3 i, will be useful to sport owners , well i can try , lol
as a side note i was reading this ref Exterior leds , not the HiDs but using Leds for sidelights etc

A similar issue exists for LED bulbs that are sold as upgrades. Pictured is a normal Halogen bulb, above an equivalent, LED conversion part. While these are legal to use within the interior, they are not permitted in any exterior lamp, at the time of writing. Recently, a case was reported to us, where an insurance company turned down a claim, because a rear number-plate bulb was fitted with an LED conversion bulb. However, even reputable retailers sell these bulbs but they should be marked “for off-road use only.”
However, new cars are permitted to be fitted with LED/HID headlights and LED side lamps, because the lamp units have been designed and tested to work effectively with the bulbs and have passed the required Type Approval Requirements. If you wish to upgrade a car to HID (or LED) lighting, you have to buy a complete replacement lamp.

I know not a lot about the Sport model....
I would highly recommend getting in touch with Rangers of Guildford and see if they can help with the Sport Models...they certainly did with my L322....they were fecking awesome, cannot recommend highly enough and their coffee is good too.

Thanks for the compliment - I had replaced my ABS ECU and it needed coding to the car - I don't own the kind of diagnostics to be able to flash the ECU so I kinda needed to pop in and get them to do it.
I phoned Hunters of Guildford (LR Main Dealer) and they said they were booked up and it would be atleast 10 days before they could get to it, but they recommended Rangers of Guildford on the Slyfield Industrial Estate....
Gave them a call, and they said bring it down and they would fit it in over there lunchtime.....I popped straight down there, the guy waved me into the workshop, holding his sandwich and cup of coffee....the boss offered me a coffee while I waited, the guy with a sandwich plugged the car in loaded up the relevant data for my car, took a bite of his sandwich, wrote the info to the ABS ECU, sip of coffee, uplugged everything, fired the car up and bish bash bosh and a bit of his sandwich later, the ABS warnings vanished and she was back to normal.
They tried to charge me £30 for the work so I gave them £50 and a tenner to the sandwich munching chap to say sorry for taking up his lunchtime....
Bloody good bunch of blokes.
