Freelander 1 Facelift Auto Loud bang from under car when pulling away and some times when slowing down to a stop What can it be?
Now have F4 Code Flashing on dash and Amber Hill Descent light is on car goes into Limp mode.

And what sort of cost am I looking at please.
Thanks Dogue

It's likely the front diff rubber mount has failed. And it sounds like the Low pressure fuel pump and or Fuel filter needs replacing. Cost to do it yourself will be in parts and any tools you dont have so lets over estimate and say £100. To get somebody else to do it will be parts plus labour so lets go low and say £200 +VAT

Have you replied to the correct thread?

F4 flashing is a gearbox error message. You need to get the codes read to diagnose the fault. The banging sounds like the gears are slamming in, resulting in the F4.

What engine is it? V6 petrol or TD4 diesel.

No way to say how much it's going to cost to repair, without first knowing what the fault is.

F4 and bad/wrong gear changes can occur when the gearbox cable barrel fitting is not secure. Check that. Make sure it's pushed together properly. There are threads on here about it. Worth checking before considering more serious problems.
