my current shock turrets are rusted out of recognition and was looking at replacing with glynlewis 4x4 ones with my engine out with the aces I want to change shock turrets I have the bolt on top of shock and four or five on the base is it as simple as loosening these or grinding them off I think or will I need to jack it up etc?

Should just be a matter of undoing the nuts..............however.................the ring that has the studs will probably need replacing as the nuts will be seized so order them too. To change the ring you need to lift the chassis or drop the suspension so that the top of the spring separates from the spring hanger, you will also need the damper out too.

What do you mean by dropping suspension? By lifting chassis you mean two jacks one on each dumbiron?

I had to angle grind some of the small nuts as they just wouldn't budge - even with impact. This is why my lower rings with captive studs will need to be replaced.

I also had to grind the large upper nuts by cutting two parallels either side of the shaft - the shaft of the shock was just spinning when I tried to undo the nut as I had no means to constrain/hold the shaft. You may be able to get away with applying PlusGas (WD40 is a good water dispersal fluid, but pretty poor at penetrating or lubricating) once a day for a few days, and possibly some heat from acetylene if you have access.

Basically you need to be at the point where you can remove the spring, the spring holds item 8 in the spring seat (which is not shown but between 7 & 8). You need to be able to separate the spring from the seat to remove 8 (as it will probably be seized or the studs shear)). To unload the spring you either need to raise the chassis relative to the axle, or support the chassis rails and drop the axle down a bit (or a combination of both depending on what kit you have).
