Check the pressures in the TD5 injectors!
It's more like 1,600 BAR than 1,600 psi!

hi, could anyone tell me if my r reg 300tdi 90 will have a common rail injection ?
cheers
Andrew
very basically, a common rail diesel has a high pressure pump feeding a pipe that runs next to the injectors at about 1600psi. there is a pressure regulator on this "common rail" which keeps supply pressure to all injectors constant. a TD5, for example, is not a common rail diesel. the pressure is built up to abt 1600psi in the injector using a cam on the cam shaft. the cam depresses a plunger in the injector which boosts the fuel pressure just prior to injection. make sense??
