ripped off by edward fear!!

Hi all im a newbie so be gentle.
like a mug i fell for edward fears advert. ordered a 300tdi engine for £495 made a point of checking it was a cable throttle. also asked for proof of mileage and full receipt so i could dvla the change.What arrived was a fly by wire engine so rang him and put it back on lorry.
2 weeks later and over a dozen calls an engine arrived. signed for it like a tit.When i unwrapped it it was a heap of scrap. rang him 23 times and got the runaround.so got in touch with trading standards glous. I am now in the process of going through the small claims court and he is contesting the case. Do not have anything to do with this little snake.he claims he just works there answering the phones etc but he is registered as company director.Small claims is £35 all done online cheers toby

Dear All,

I have been badly scammed by Edd from Direct 4x4 in Sling.
I have read on your forum and others about people being ripped off by these thugs. This is still happening as my experience is very recent.
I want to hear from you what can be done to stop them trading and save others like us from such bad experiences. I am determined to put all my efforts in making them known to the Police and Trading Standards. The more of us getting together the stronger case we will have.
I am looking forward to hear from anyone that has anything to say in this case.

These robbers are so well known on the internet why for F/S are people still trying to do business with them? There are plenty of genuine parts sellers, I find it hard to believe that at least one person that they have ripped off has not sorted them out.

paid him by cheque £550 for a 300tdi engine.as add complete 71k miles ready to fit.rang him and checked it was a cable controlled one had proof of mileage receipt with engine number on. a fly by wire engine turned up with no paperwork. so put it back on the truck rang him and sent it back.2 weeks later another one turned up which i signed for.broken water pump,p/s pump,injector pump,servo pump.rang him he said no way would he exchange it as ive already had 2 delivered and he wasnt paying delivery on anymore. offered a credit note which i refused cos it is worthless,

30th October 2013..Gloucester Citizen newspaper report....I see that Edward Fear has had a law enforcement order made on him by Gloucester Council trading standards services to change his practices and fined £975.00.
Also his father Micheal Fear was given a 6 month prision suspended sentence for fraud and theft involving cars and motorcross bikes.
So the authorities have caught up with these very dodgy characters.
Beware not to buy from these people under any circumstances.
I expect they will re surface again under a different name....

£975 fine and a slap on the wrist - that's not going to stop anyone. And a suspended sentence for his Dad - so what.

Imagine the distress of all the people they have ripped off for hundreds of thousands of pounds.

If this had been a bank or Post Office robbery and they had been convicted what would they have got? Years in nick that's what.

Why does 'white collar' crime get such small sentences?

i had the same on ebay but not from the ID you have mentioned mine was vmk-locksmith
hes got 100% feedback but when i tried buy a key fob case ebay sent me a message saying hes being investigated and the item had been removed but he had my money so i opened a case and for days he kept saying he sent the item on such a date when clearly he hadnt so i took it futher on ebay and got a full refund
brought the same item off another buyer came straight away

I use e bay loads of times and I have had disputes with a few suppliers but I must say pay pal has always sorted it out in my favour so I still feel more than happy to buy on e bay and pay with pay pal.

I totally back eBay and Paypal. I just cant understand why ebay were investigating the item.

Just read that thread and looked him up on eBay, the D3 he sold, has a big MOT failure in May 14, passed in June 14, at which point its mileage had DROPPED from 156K miles to 77K miles!!!
Would have been good if the MOT system stops new MOTs being registered if the mileage is lower than the previous, clearly whatever Govt IT project it was didnt anticipate that!
Shame we dont seem to have any Trading Standards people anymore!

Edward Fear has been charges again this morning with six counts of handling stolen goods.

"The charges relate to six 4x4 vehicles discovered yesterday at a business park in Sling after local Police acted on information from the community, so far 11 4x4 cars and hundreds of car parts have been found. Officers are working through the items and will be making contact with owners of the stolen vehicles"
