New and nervous

Hi everybody!

Just bought a 2004 Freelander TD4 HSE Auto with 96k on the clock, I have always loved the idea of a Land Rover and the death of my old Picasso gave me the opportunity to try and persuade my wife to get one (it won out over a Qashqui).

I know next to nothing about cars and so I have joined here (reading through is scary) and ordered a Haynes manual, hopefully I can use the latter to translate the former.

see ur not far from me , useto have a freelander myself

don't worry there's plenty of advice to be had on here and plenty to help

do u know the service history of the landy

always the best place to start , ensuring it's all serviced correctly

pop over into the freelander section

The service history is reasonable but not complete so waiting for payday to get one done, would you recommend anywhere?

Hello imthenewn2 and welcome to Lalazone. I don't understand how you feel nervous, there are a few "unusual types" in the zone and you will certainly come across insensitivity, but you can ignore the crap and enjoy the dozens of members who make up the vast majority. Enjoy

Plenty of freelander advice available in the correct section as Gary says.
Mechanical advice in there and sexual advice in the anything goes section.
It's just banter , we know you can't all possibly be gay.
That would be silly.

Thanks for the welcome, I am not nervous of the people on here but rather of the Freelander itself, reading through the forum prior to purchase was helpful but there is so much I don't know. My plan is to open the bonnet and crawl underneath with the Haynes, a great opportunity to learn but a bit scary for someone with no mechanical know-how.

Have you downloaded the Rave file for the freelander?
If not then get it , as it is a much better workshop manual than haynes. One of your fellow Hippo owner has pasted this.

If your Haynes manual is anything like the two that I have (I have Defender Td5) you can use them as a head rest whilst your searching through Landyzone.

Good bus the hippo - got a few pals with em.... know next to nothing about em - never even had one on me ramp (!) - but as others have said... loads of advice in the hippo section of the forum

I can only tell you what we did..... got her a D1 too - and she loves it
