Evening one and all!
New to the website but from what I have read this seems to be the best place for advice. I have recently purchased an 05 freelander Td4 (with a list of things that need doing to bring it up to scratch) which I hope to get sorted in the near future. One thing that is bugging me and hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction is.....it doesn't want to start when facing up hill! Took me over 10 minutes to start before work on Tuesday, facing down hill or on level ground it starts first time. Has there been a previous post with such problem that I've not found?
Many thanks

Hi and welcome.
Don't forget to put a bit of information about yourself in the Welcome section of the forum, if not already done so. ;)

The first thing to check with strange starting issues is the rear pump just forward if the RH rear wheel. When the ignition is switched on, you should hear it run for about 30 seconds but shutting down again.
No noise would indicate a failed pump, blown fuse or failed relay.

If you hear the pump running, try to find out when the filter was last changed.

The next thing is to replace the high pressure fuel pump regulator O rings. Although these normally stop the engine starting completely, so that's why I put it in last position.

Thank you very much for your swift reply. I will try checking to see if I can hear anything when I switch the ignition on over the weekend.
Appreciate your feedback
