What have you done to your Freelander today

I've always admired Agas - lovely looking pieces of kit - can they be fitted to the L Series as well :)
Any Freelander could in theory be fitted with a FBH. It simply plumbs into the heater water circuit. It then only requires a permanent Live and ground connection. It's activated with a +12V feed. It's lovely to get into a warm car on cold mornings
I don't think you'll have room the an Arga ;)
 
Drove 300 miles south from Edinburgh today having driven 300 miles up there yesterday, (Don't ask!).
Minus 6 overnight. New Bosch battery fitted last week, glycerine around the door seals. Don't care what Hill Billy's refer to it as. It does the job.
 
All TD4s up to about 2005 had the FBH. Mine does have one luckily for me. Mine was registered in March 2005. I know of a Jan 2005 that doesn't have one though :confused:.
As Tony said, the TD4 has it. The TD4 engine doesn't really get hot enough in winter to warm up the cabin effectively. So LR added a small oil fired boiler to help warm the engine in winter. Lots of diesel engine vehicles have them.
I've just added a remote to the FBH and some relays to the blower fan inside. This way I can start the FBH without going outside on a cold morning. The heater will then warm up the cabin and engine in advance of me leaving for work.

You'll have a FBH in your TD4 too ;)

I had thought it was in the rear wheel arch and if so mine is missing. The heater in my car seems fine though so maybe I'm wrong.

I could do with one of them in my MGF. With my Hippo out of action I pressed the MG back into service forgetting I had fitted the heater hoses backwards when I
installed the PRT thermostat. :confused: It was a cold drive in to work today.
My project for the weekend is sorting out the hoses. Then it`s time for the Hippo`s ignition woes:rolleyes:

The dosing pump for the FBH is in the back. The FBH is behind the front bumper, on the LH side. You'll see the pipes going to it if you look in front of the battery. The pipes dissappear down the 3" hole in the inner wing. If you look under the LH front corner, you'll see the flue outlet.
 
I was about to ask some more stupid questions about the FBH cause I didn't even know I had one but did a bit of Googling instead. I'm more used to K series cars and lack of heat in the water ain't an issue for them :p.
Something else for me to check out then. :confused:
 
So i have managed to fit reversing camera. fit snuggly under rear handle.

Also fitted front facing camera. Just a cheapo from ebay and replaced front speakers. Managed to strip rear doors and reglue plastic membrane. If that won't stop leakage to the rearI need to have a look somewhere else. That is it for now.

If your still getting water in the boot it might be worth taking the plastic side trims off in the boot. There are a couple 25mm ish holes filled by grommets and the grommets fall out. They're right in the corner so will get splashes and spray off the rear wheels.
 
The camera worked out well. Just need to trim your studs up to your nuts :eek: and it will be nice and neat.
I might just copy that. I've been looking through e-bay for a while trying to find something that would work.

Camera was inherited from my old car and it was attached to a reg plate surround. Had to cut it off and trim leftover material.

But i think it does look quite neat and good.
About the grommets... I am still learning a lot about landy so need more info. Purchased haynes manual for my landy but there are two versions. Have them both. So will have a look in them and report. When I looked inside tailgate door I could see water on a slider below the door and water on a rear sill. That was my initial diagnosis. Plastic membrane. I had similar problem on my od mondeo. So I glued big piece of bubble wrap aroung rear doors. Hope this will cure it.
 
Reached 100k miles! (On an 03 TD4). - now it's going to be all downhill; clutch, injectors, sensors etc... hope not as have been doing some nice long trips in it this year.

In the short term however, I need to sort the leaking rear diff driveshaft seals, (just ordered). And the rust behind the tailgate handle, - which has been cooking for while it seems!

Re FBHs, I thought only the posh TD4s had them? And the rest of us have to make do with the resistor coils on the blower unit.

Gave it a wash, then noticed water coming in through the hard top on the drivers side top corner. :(

Only started to leak after that really hard frost.

Anyone recommend a way to reseal the hard top?

The plastic interior trims in the boot are easy enough to remove but take a bit of fiddling. If I recall correctly there are torx screws and flat half turn studs. I think you might need to remove the plastic door saddle first though. Also tip the rear seats forward.

they can be fitted to anything. my L takes a while to warm up this time of year, my Td4 has one and it appears to work too which is nice, must test it properly though
