P38A Back in Bishkek

well the engine finally gave up and run a bearing and scored the crankshaft badly so I have had to source a secondhand engine and have it fitted, Luckily I found a mechanic that knows where one is and he also knows the M51 engine as he owned one and has all the tools for setting it up.
I havnt run the car for a couple of months and taken hire cars and public transport though the Pamir Highway and Tajikistan and Uzbekistan seeing as I was here and without a car.Fantastic scenery and mountain passes ,but i did miss driving it myself although its quite easy to do in a two wheel drive as long as it has adequate clearance.
Well we will see if the engine will get us back to the UK then get it reconditioned and a new turbo fitted.

M51 from what? Presumably he'll swap the fuel pump over? Think some of the sensors might be different too. Going to put the old engine in the boot to rebuild?!

The Fuel pump will be changed over and I have some new sensors sump will have to be changed as wellill leave the block here but will take the head with me as it good .
He has some interesting stuff in his garage like a fastback mustang and a ford capi amongst his M3 and 5 BMWs and also subaru wrx for rallying.
