Hi I have a 2001 freelander petrol
I have just sorted my rocker gasket as was leaking oil and car running fine
Last few days been getting in my car and not being able to get it into gear, reverse sounds like a grating noise
I pump clutch sometimes this helps if not I have to turn the car off and on again and 9 out of 10 times the gears work fine.
It has only happened a few times just wondering if anyone knows the problem as been told a number of things from linkage to cylinders to pressure pad and gearbox
Thanks gareth

The slave cylinder bracket is just about to fail ;)
Oh right thank you Nodege68, is it an easy fix, I have done alot of work on it myself : rear diff mount lower engine mount, linkage arms, breaks, cleaned and resealed rocker gasket. Window regulators. I'm kinda a diy guy but it's always passed mot and services. Any help or advice would be great full.

Easy job but you need to check the release lever is free to move. If not, the added strain will crack the slave cylinder bracket. The slave cylinder itself often fails too. Time is of the essence on this one.

OK thank you Nodge68
I may just look at getting a new bracket and cylinder then and get my mate to have a look
Thanks for the help not the bad news I was expecting
