this should probably go in my reassembly thread but it's a bit of an off shoot.
The t seal that came out of the motor was rubber, the new one in the playpen gasket set is cork.
Do people still use cork? And is the rubber one available seperately as I can't see the part number for it?

Answered my question. Reexamining the bearing map showed that it's not a rubber seal but just been filled up with sealant of some kind (silicone?).
Don't know if that's the current way but in the absence of anything to the contrary, I'll use the cork ones.

I tried to fit the cork seals, failed dismally. I seem to remember that a sort of guide tool is needed, without that the cork doesn't seem to glide into place.
With helpful advice from JM, I used sealent, easy, worked a treat, and not a sign of leakage.

Oh dear that doesn't sound good- what sort of sealant did you use?

sounds good to me ,long experience has shown me its better and easier

You misunderstand me, the not good bit is the thing that cork seal are hard to get in and can fold.
As it happens, I got cork seals in using two feeler gauge blades but now I'm thinking it should come out and I'll redo it with sealant.

if you got it in then so good,we started using a quality automotive sealant as it was the only way we could guarantee a good seal when we were doing a large reconditioning contract for the mod ,several t pieces had split during fitting even with the lr guides
