Hi guys/girls. Once again I lay myself at the feet of the master/s (Ant).
I was driving home yesterday , when out of nowhere, the speedo stopped working.'Oh drat' I thought. Or words to that effect. Ten minutes later I slowed down for lights and the speedo started working again but 30 seconds later it was gone again.
I have just had all brake disc and brakes as well as handbrake shoes replaced. Could something have been dislodged during the work?

She's also not happy on accelarating, between 55 and 70. It feels like she is struggling and there is a vibration which levels out at 70. She has only done approx 2k miles since gearbox oil/filter change. BUTdid end up having engine changed a few months after the gearbox oil change.
Could the two issues be related or do you think I'm right to treat them as separate isues?
Thanks in advance.

I doubt it was to do with the oil change tbh or it would be far more common. I think you will find its totally isolated or to do with your engine change, and if I was a betting man I would say the latter.
Its interesting how you say gearbox oil/filter change and then Engine swap after that ? I assume you had oils re-done when the engine was swapped so the filter/gearbox oil is surely a moot point ?

Thanks guys.
No other fault showing, at this time Ant.
Er1c , she'been running smoothly since engine change. Yep all oils, etc, done at time of engine change. Engine changed after gearbox oil becaueenof dickhead who was suposed to fix sleeve wear and instead wrecked engine. Story is on here, somewhere.
Wil, that was my initial thoughts but the other symptoms don't equate to balance issue.
She's off to local guy on Monday. So will just have to keep fingers crossed and return all Christmas pressies to get money back to pay for yet more problems. I knew I should never have said she was pretty good fault -wise! :-D

Further to my last, every answer brings it's own questions.............
Mechanic had it on diagnostic and came up with 3 errors:
0404 EGR control
1613 smooth running regulator
3505 glow plug device or relay
Found out more info on first two from code list but neither I not mechanic understand 3505. Anyone got any ideas. I think he said the diagnostic system was 'autocheck'. But don't take my word for it, as may have misheard him. It's a case of a common language distorted by continents and lost in translation!
He reset the faults, took it for a drive and only the 3505 came back up.
Any help appreciated.

p.s No p/u or any other prefix given with codes

As Ant says,it would point towards something being to do with the rear speed sensor especially as the wiring around the rear speed sensors would have been messed with while changing the brake wear sensor as they are housed together in the same junction box.

Where did you get your engine from in the end ?

Cheers HC. Got the engine from the bay of E. Out of an L322 being scrapped for other body reasons.

addit: Had auto-electrician out today. Looks like EGR is sitting high on list of culprits for the rough running. So cleaning/ blanking is in near future.
