When doing tappet adjustments is it possible to rotate the engine via the crankshaft pulley without getting under the engine or removing anything? Is there anywhere else I can rotate it? Thanks

When I had a NA I used to take the fan shroud off when I did the tappets and used a ratchet and socket on the crank pulley from above. Slightly more of a faff removing the cowling but at least then I could see the valves open etc.

I had the plastic cowling as opposed to the fabric tunnel type

I put it in high range 4th gear, and jack up one of the front wheels. You can then turn the raised wheel to rotate the engine. No need to remove any parts that way.

A ratchet on the crankshaft bolt with a long piece of tube as an extension means you can turn it without leaving the passenger wing side - where I usually stand to set the gaps.

Isnt there a hole in the grill panel to allow you to turn the engine over with an extension and ratchet (Similar to the old series starting handle hole)? Remember seeing the hole in my brothers 90 but not sure what it was for and assumed it was that
