July 20th, LandyZone refurb.

This site contains affiliate links for which LandyZone may be compensated if you make a purchase.
Yes, finally, we are upgrading the forum software that LandyZone is running on.

On Monday July 20th LandyZone will be taken down in the morning and converted to XenForo, a modern forum software package that is a huge upgrade over our current outdated vBulletin installation.

LandyZone will be down all day and maybe into the evening. I'm really hoping it doesn't take that long though.

The new software is fully responsive, which called for a total redesign of the site. This means it works as well on mobile phones and tablets as it does on your computer. No more tapatalk required!

A few of us have been working on the new system for a while now, and whilst we hope to have got most of the bugs out of the way, I'm sure with such a big change we will have problems. When the site comes back up please bear with us!

Community, Social Groups will not make it into the new site, so if you have any content in that area that you would like to save, now is the time.

Does that mean AG, LZIR and the rest will be missing from the new forum? Will current threads disappear, or will these sections no longer exist at all?

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Yes all those are still there... :)

It's not going to go tits up.

What the hell is up with people?!! Technology changes and evolves and sometimes you have go with it.

At least give the new site a chance and be positive about it.

Leave the negativity at the door!
Usual deal like with your show then, please people give us your feedback as long as you love everything and don't want anything changed..

Ok then..

The new site's awesome, love it, thanks for all your hard work and the new graphics rock! ;)

Like my show? What you on about?

I just don't understand how people can already be moaning and being negative about something they haven't even seen or used yet?

But yeah let's all be miserable and negative and give anything new a chance... I can totally see how that's the best way.

it's called human nature, and there is a whole topic around introducing software change

I spend quite a lot of my working hours launching new websites and generally most people are quite excited about it.

Well I love it... It has loads of cool little new features and no, I didn't design it or build it... All the hard work has been done by Roy and accy and they've done a brilliant job... Considering Landy zone is actually a giant website!

I really hope everyone gives it a chance and has a proper play around on it before giving their feedback.

bit different though

mainly websites are more of a marketing tool - once in a while usage type of deal.

community/webapps or even large frequently visited sites like ebay/amazon/facebook have users heavily invested and they can get real ****y when even minor things change.

being a forum where people can voice their opinion magnifies the effect.

plus there are a bunch of old buggers on here who have probably just mastered how to use this forum and are having a flap about learning a slightly different system ;)

personally, i'm looking forward to seeing it :)

I do understand all that. My brother is a senior user experience architect consultant and has worked on apple, Amazon, Porsche etc... I've also worked on big websites with a lot of user interaction :)

At least we have given people warning it's going to change

I'm totally up for the new improved platform. All that's concerning me is what the hell am I going to do for a whole day without LANDYZONE! one thing I'm not going to do is go anywhere near my Landrover....
