As a luck would have it, both my brakes ruptured on the brake test at the mot station. There appears to be considerable corrosion and since the car is now laid up there, I was wondering what a fair price would be for full replacements? Any help welcome.

Especially with kits on eBay with all the pipe, unions and tools. Just search for 'brake pipe discovery'.
£35 plus your time.

Only problem is op getting it home from the test centre.
Had all my lads done on his focus for about £150 (I provided the lines and fixings) because it was snowing and I just couldn't be bothered rolling around in it after finishing work at five in the morning.
But that was at a good old fashioned local garage that works on old cars and fixing up old Morris travellers etc so are used to getting dirty, seized fasteners etc, whereas the garage closer to me wanted £450-£500 as they only like playing with clean modern sticker covered cars and really didn't want the job.
Also the job is much easier on a disco as you can get underneath and the braklines are generally routed much more simply.
So if you do get someone else to do it shop around.

Well it turned out that I decided to just get all the bits done at the mot center. Turned out the pipes were not as bad as originally thought as the previous owner had run a second set of brake lines without removing the originals hence the confusion. I am not sure what things look like underneath but I am going under to see what has happened there.
