Hi,
I have a 1992 90.
I can insert the key into the lock, but it wont turn and so I have to lock and unlock the rear door from inside.
I have bought a replacement barrel and seen how to replace it, but I'm wondering whether this is likely to fix it (if I can even get it out) before I take it all apart, or am I likely to need a new lock body as well
Thanks
Simon

Good point :D
It doesn't unlock with any of the keys that came with the Landy, so I assumed it was seized or something and I have tried putting some oil in.

I've had it a couple of months and I got the ignition key, and 2 identical keys which open the front doors and fuel cap.

that doesn't sound right, you should have at least 7 keys with a new vehicle, including 2 yales and a locker

No it's never worked, I just thought I'd check what people thought before i disassemble the rear lock and realise I need the whole lock body as well as the new barrel!

id go for a new barrel set. Its alot cheaper to start with :)

Theres not exactly alot to go wrong with the body. Though might be worth giving it a good dose of penetrating oil (not wd40) first?

you shouldn't use oil in locks btw, it'll just attract crap which ends up gumming it up.

locksmiths graphite powder is the proper stuff or go crush a dozen pencils

true. but just to try and free it up. You could flush it out with wd40 afterwards (its a good cleaning agent) or with alchohol etc.

to be fair though i find the mud that gets flung up the doors to be more attractive to crud than any oil

When I bought my 90 it came with an ignition key, a key for the passenger door, a key for the drivers door, a key for the fuel filler cap and 3 more keys, none of which did anything in the rear door lock.

All the barrels are fairly easy to change (I think I had trouble with the back door as not having a key to spin the lock I couldnt locate a pin or something (was a while ago)) so I ended up drilling that barrel out, but wasnt a biggee.
