Well you have got to love these things.

Took the battery out today as I was aware of a small hole that needed looking at, grinder out and 5 minutes later I am left with this hole.

I decided to do it the east way and remove the whole seat box for better access. At least it is smiling at me.

I am very surprised at how easy it came apart and have been left with a flintstone car.

Now while I have it stripped down this far I intend replacing the clutch and rear crankshaft oil seal as it leaks a lot. Is there anything else worth looking at while I have it stripped this far?

While apart:
HD clutch fork.
Spigot bush in the crank.

Optional:
New slave cylinder (or at least a fluid change)

You can buy genuine battery-boxes that have been galvanised which are a direct replacement for yours, when I was pricing one up they were slightly cheaper than YRM.
The Lanny Doctor
You might have to ring them to get the current price.

It indeed makes sense for the oil changes, well reminded James.

Do the HD clutch fork make a great deal of difference? I will have to search. The slave cylinder looks fairly new on it, but I think it will be wise to change all the fluids.

HD clutch fork is a preventative maintenance change. Standard ones can wear through where they attach to the pivot ball and is a known failure point. HD ones are braced to prevent it happening. Last thing you want is a fork failure after putting it all back together as its a box out job to change it. If once you get it apart you find there is a HD one already fitted (from a previous clutch change) then you should be fine.

That is great thank you, for what the cost is I will just get one and replace it anyway, don't want to be faffing around on a Saturday morning trying to get one.

You could check the H/B shoes and if need be adjust the H/B and while you are at it adjust or replace the gear linkage mecanism if yours is a bit sloppy :D
