hi all, just wondering if by some chance there might be anyone on the forum that has come across a good photo or diagram of a freelander TD4 engine from the exhaust side.

i have something blowing massively from down there and having taken the air box off and whilst using a mirror still cant see where the gas is coming from.

diagram would be seriously helpful. i did have it smoke tested this morning and there were zero leaks in the exhaust system so im not looking at a cracked manifold. ....any ideas, pics? cheers

would it be possible to see that from the top of the engine? i took the airbox cover off but dont have the right torx bit to take the whole airbox out to get a proper look. thats is sort of why i need to see a diagram so i can see clearly what is what back there lol : /

it may be the pipe of the intake of your turbo has come off mine did once and it sounded like a jet also it does not have a clip on it to hold it on.

thanks for all the replies, few pics on ebay gives you some idea of whats what. turns out to be a cracked exhaust manifold. turbo intake hose fell off monday for some reason and now the exhaust manifold has cracked and i cant connect the 2 incidences except that htey happened in quick succession...

Isn't there a severe loss of power if your turbo pipes off (besides noise).
I'd ask the for a refund from the people who did test.

the turbo pipe fell off and was refitted monday. on thursday this new sound developed, much more raspy like a holed exhaust that got progressively worse over a 25 mile journey. i cant say if there is a dramatic loss of power anymore or whether it is my reluctance to put my foot down with all the extreme raging fart sounds going on.

just having the exhaust manifold changed now along with another pipe that im guessing is part of the EGR. £210 sorted in a day, short notice. shouldnt complain. need to buy that torx bit to get the cam cover off and save myself some pennies lol.
