Fitted a replacement Alternator which has fixed the "alternator fault" fault message but it doesn't appear to have particularly helped with my battery life/drain issues however I am suspecting the new battery to be culprit as it apparently charges from empty to full in about an hour...

In other news, 4 new air springs arrived the other day and will be fitted on Monday so she won't sound like a set of old bag pipes deflating as soon as the ignition is turned of!

have you tried a very old deep cycle charger? trouble with modern chargers is they monitor the voltage once reached they shut off.
also if you have had a bad alternator for a while it may have goosed it

Changed my P38 gearbox oil, then the new rubber sump seal would not fit properly so drained it again and put the old one back on for a nice fit!

Well at least I got a flush of the gearbox!

Can be difficult to recover a deep discharged LC battery.

I've noticed that! If you disconnect for 10 minutes then put it on again it seems to finish the job on the 2nd attempt. I wondered if it was my charger. Mystery explained!

The battery is only a few months old, its a long story but the original battery I had would hold charge for a week or 10 days without to much trouble however it was obviously old and a bit small so I got one of the large 130Ah batterys from battery megastore and it didn't seem any better, infact a week was a big ask for it. So I bought a Ctek MXS 5.0 charger as a maintenance charger to see what it did. It charged it up and seemed quite happy but the discharge rate (or the time until I cant start the car) has now dropped to 2-3 days which is just annoying.

It will charge, I've just taken it of charge tonight and seen what voltage its taken it to and its at 12.62v. So i'm going to have a look tomorrow and see what voltage its at. Just doesn't seem to take much charge, as I said above it seems worse than the 85Ah battery I had on it before which had a suspected dead cell... Certainly when I took that to dads it was only registering 10v or so.

I've spoken to battery megastore who have advised I get it tested (which I will on Monday) and if its faulty they've said they will send a replacement to me

Replaced O2 sensor on one of cats.
Removed 4 very old and rusty spark plugs, 2 short lengths of metal tube and a butter knife from spare wheel well. Sealed all holes in wheel well.
Washed knife, made toast, buttered toast......

Today I have mostly been wire tracing. Needed to make sure the wire from ECM pin out no34 reached input pin 4 on ABS ECU and it is all fine!

So I still do not know why my diagnostics shows an engine speed signal fault in the ABS ECU!

Oh Well! Still got a couple of weeks before MOT..... ;)

I can't remember, have you tried a replacement ECU?

I FINALLY GOT THE LEFT REAR CALIPER OFF!!!!!!

Sorry for shouting, but I had to let it out somewhere.....

This is on a par with the great 1991 event - the removal of the hub from the half-shaft taper on my Vitesse........

Every once in a while, something puts up one helluva fight.....
