Argyle Street 1969 looking towards Central Station and the Heilemans Umbrella (central station bridge, otherwise known as the Highlandmans umbrella as they used to shelter under it from the rain when they came south). Anyways look what we have on the left

Great find mate. That looks like where the old Tower Records was right where the LR's at. Across the road there was an original KFC that sold the best spare ribs in the world. Not like the ****e they churn out now.:(

Nope, the pic shows where wetherspoons would be now. Tower records was under the bridge on the right hand side

Stand corrected. Best of it is....I can remember that Sweppes sign. Trying to now remember if there was a sign on the other side???

You on face ache? Look for a page called Lost Glasgow. If you love seeing old piccys of the city you'll love it

Not me, but will have a look on the kids. Love looking at old pics of anything or anywhere to be honest. specially if its somewhere I recognise.

Ah those would have been the old corporation colours, red and cream or maroon and cream. The trams and subway trains used to be painted in them too. The landy certainly isn't corporation colours

Yes they did. In my time they were blur and cream and used to sit on the slip on the North Bank. I haven't seen them since the 80's though.

They still have Defender 90 pickups, you'll see them if there's a breakdown in the tunnel or when they close one side for roadworks. I think they're based in a yard at the Govan end these days.
