Hello,
I bought a 2012 rear lights to upgrade my 2007 model. When I connect it, everything goes well: side, stop, back, except the fog light, that works at the same time that the tail lights. (No flashing) That means that arrives power at the same time to the both tail and fog lights. I need to open the rear light to separate the power. Someone knows how can I open it, without damage?
Thanks

You've got it all wrong mate

Do a bit more research into the 2010 rear light conversion

The lights aren't compatable with the electronics with the earlier model so you will usually have symptoms like fast flashing indicator speed, check bulb warnings on the dash and a fog light on / flickering issue

This is because the original lights used the fog both as a side light and a fog light, this is different on the later lights and it won't work properly without modification.

You don't need to touch the light unit, it's sealed anyway.

You need to make circuits up to stop the fog light and indicator issues, relays and resistors are all you need.

To disable the fault messages you need access to a fault mate or Land Rover diagnostics.

It can all be done with a bit of electrical knowledge, Iv done a full front and rear 2010 conversion to my 2002 model and the lights work perfectly after the correct wiring modifications.

An auto spark should be able to sort it for you.

Good luck

Thanks a lot for your fast replay. I will ask to an electrician for the resistors, and I will tell him your advice about the way to work the fog light (with the side light). I will explain how ends.

I'm sure there are electricery boxes you can get off the Fleabay which plug in to the existing connectors and the upgrade lights to sort the problem.

Do a search on Ebay for the boxes and also check out the relevant upgrade light topics on another forum 'FullfatRR.com' for the fix to your problem.

Correct
An Ebay seller does occasionally sell these "boxes"
For £150 a pair

They claim to fix the issues

I done mine for £5 ! :d

Lol

Point taken 2.0 Hippo...

I didn't say the electricery box fix would be cheap, but if you've not got any electrical knowledge. they do provide a reasonable alternative.

Exactly

£150 is very reasonable really if you think about it.
By the time you've got yourself an auto electrician to do it etc..

Hello,
At last my mechanic found the solution.
The problem in my model, december 2007, is that the back lights function with 2 bulbs, that seems the same light, but you can appreciate a thin line that separate the two parts of the light upper and lower. The upper bulb is a normal 5w, but the lower bulb is 21w, and the ECU sends 5w to work like a back light. When I turn on fog switch, ECU send 21w and works like fog light.
The solution is to insert a rele in the fog light, that absorb the 5w signal that send the ECU.
Thanks for all your opinions.

Here are some images of the work:
In the first you can appreciate the thin line of the two bulbs.
In the second the rele
In the others how it works back and side lights

easy to make.

done mine for less then £5 in bits

couple of relays and resistors

then access to a faultmate to disable bulb checking messages from the LCM ECU

:)

i know, and i cant afford that either, in fact since i bought a range rover there are a lot of things i cant afford, heating, food, non sack cloth clothing.....
