I have just mounted COntinental CrossContact LX2. It was chosen by a board of 4x4 drivers in Russia, over the Pirelli Scorpion. I paid 100 € each tyre. Continental is good stuff.

are they the black ones though:confused::confused::confused:

I've got 285/35 x 22 on my Stormer wheels.

Had a quote to gave the wheels refurbished for £45 per wheel.

Looking at getting tyres at same time.

But don't know wether I should get used tyres or budget new ones

Any thoughts?

throw em in the scrap they will crack anyway & need welding 285/35/22 . 9-10 part worn are junk even though they appear good + new ones wont last long either & it will drive terrible + prob void your insurance that's my thoughts/advice;)

Right. The new plan is to get a set of 20" supercharged wheels with good tyres for £500 and refurb the 22" Stormers, fit some decent part warns and then sell them on for around £700.

Will I get better drive and mpg on the 20's as opposed to thee 22's?

Do your homework and work out if it's worth it, or just selling the stormers as they are - by the time you've spent £45x 4 for refurb PLUS the part worn tyres, got them fitted etc, it may not be worth the ag/hassle to get perhaps only a few more quid for them ;)

It will ride better on 20"s compared to 22's yes, won't be a lot in MPG difference I wouldn't have thought, maybe slightly better on 20's if tyres are slightly narrower as will create less rolling resistance.

Hmmm, what do you mean with black ones?

Regarding Michelin. I have used Michelin for 30 years, and I am not really pleased with the Latitude Cross. It is a good tyre, but expensive, and I don't like how it rides on my Classic.

Also Michelin was put on 8th rank in that report of Russian drivers, but ranked first in terms of comfort. The Continental LX was ranked first in front of the Scorpion, as it is better in all-round.

Now I checked that Michelin is the official tyre for the Porsche Cayenne, and I think it means it is for fast driving. It is not the Latitude Cross.

I read rather negative reviews of Dunlop Grantrek. I would go for Continental, as their stuff looks serious.

Good shout. I'll see if I can sell them as is....will prob work out around the same sort of value, but without all the hassle:)

Thanks for your help...

Right then, got 4 x nearly new Range Rover L405 20" wheels with superb tyres (8mm all round). Fitted them on the car. They look superb and the drive is noticeably improved.

Just need to sell the 22" Stormers now!

Thanks for your help and advice Robhew86 :clap2:

Pics attached.....Thoughts guys?

Wheels look nice, much better than 22"s IMO.

Not personally a fan of the chrome side vents or door handles, they would be the first to come off if it were mine.
But each to their own!! It's what makes the world go round !! :p ;)

I bet they weren't £400, look good

You're right they were'nt £400! :)
Got a great deal from a firm called SD Prestige in Bradford. They basically get people in who want the original wheels off to be replaced by 22"+ monstrosities!
So these were off an L405 that had covered only 1000 miles.

Got them for £750.....and hopefully will sell the 22" Stormers for £500, so all in all these wheels will have set me back £250......can't argue with that... :clap2:

That's really good, i paid almost that for 4 pirelli zeros in 20 " which was 'cheap'

Cannot recommend GG ATs highly enough - brilliant winter tyres - great off road and perfectly good (and quiet) on road.

Done 20,000 miles on mine so far and they still look new!

PS these are on a P38.
