BeCM relay 7

BeCM internal relay RL7 feeds the cigar lighter, radio memory, HEVAC display and blowers via fuses 7, 8. I have had several momentary failures, some so short that there are no fuse error messages, etc. but once I got fuse 7, 8 error messages. Both were fine. I'm told it may be a ageing relay 7 in the BeCM.

Hey smart new person! Do you know if this fault is can be associated with a RRC?? I've had several instances where my heater blower won't work and neither will my cig lighter. And my coolant level light flashes, as well.

More likely to be corroded connectors or a bad earth IMO.

There are two relay 7s one in BECM and one in engine compartment fuse box, think you maybe confusing them. Relay 7 in BECM certainly does not supply blowers. That is done by interlinked relays 7 and 8 in fuse box. Fuse 8 BECM supplies relay 7 BECM. Why would a switched relay control a memory function. That is fed from fuse 1 BECM. Relay 7 BECM powers Hevac, Radio and cig lighter, accessory socket in boot later models with ignition in position one and onwards.

Odd that both blowers, HEVAC and radio display and cigar lighter (I have a radar detector plugged to it) all go off simultaneously, and come back simultaneously moments later. Coincidence three times in a row perhaps? One of the blower relays (7) had failed and I replaced both (7 & 8). Checked fuses, checked fuse box for corrosion and burning. All engine, chassis and BeCM earth points were cleaned a month ago to solve the 'gearbox fault', also added extra positive from the alternator to the battery, new battery earth cables and new cable from the alternator to the starter.

If the HEVAC display goes off, would that be what stops the blowers?????

Any further thoughts?

Sorry, no experience with a RRC. Dodgy electrics can throw up all sorts of issues. Some are easy, some have you chasing your tail.

Relay 7 BECM powers Hevac. Hevac controls fans. Would be looking for a bad connection personally. The relay either works or doesn't.

Thanks Wammers. I'll check the fuse box again, and check BeCM connections over the weekend. I'll be delighted if it's not a BeCM relay issue.

Look at terminals for fuse 8 BECM fuse box. Or the fuse itself. It is unlikely the problem will be in the engine bay fuse box.

In case you do need to replace it, relay 7 in the BECM is a Siemens V23076-A3001-D142.
You will need to have a solder sucker and a good soldering iron with a fine tip not to mention experience.

So a blow torch and a stick of plumbers solder won't do then? :D:D
