Has anyone had dealings with this firm recently?

I am trying to sort out a refund and not surprisingly they have defaulted into selective e.mail response mode.

This means that when they have got your money they can't be arsed to reply or are very helpful with regards to returning faulty products so the whole process gets dragged out for weeks and weeks.

It might be that they are not replying for a genuine reason or at worse as above.

Write them a letter explaining your issues and what you expect as a resolution then send it off recorded delivery.

Try and be reasonable with what you expect.

why not give the owner a ring?

He doesn't put a phone number on the website (very strange), so I googled the company name.

I'm doing battle with them at the moment. Recently purchased a Drive Flange. According to there compatibility chart on the website it should fit all Defender 90/110 rear axles.
However it was a 24 spline flange. After several exchange of emails and phone calls and me explaining to them that 110 Defenders have Salisbury axles and 10 spline Flanges they then said after a pow wow if I scrolled onto the next page on the website it states for all Rover axles. They didn't seem to know all 110 rear axles up to 2004 are Salisbury axles with 10 splines.
We then agreed to go halves for the proper flange. I then get an email totally different. They asked me to send the 24 spline back at my cost and I am asked to pay what amounts to the full price for the 10 spline. Not only do they not know Defenders but don't seem to understand English.
After complaining to them by phone they have now changed the compatibility chart on there website.
But if they didn't know 110 Defenders have Salisbury axles on the rear , what do they know about Defenders?
I should also mention when I called Paddocks I got the correct part straight off and for less.

They won't know all Salisbury axles on a 110 are 10 spline cos there not
My 1999 td5 is 24 spline

They did change to 24 spline not sure when. But if you enter your details on a Vehicle compatibility chart you would expect to get the right answer.

to a certain extent I agree, but i have a 1993 200tdi which should have the early rod operated handbrake according to search engines, but has the later cable type, so on change over years things get confusing, and not everyone has the same parts still fitted that they left the factory with

Agreed, you have to be careful on a change over. But when I phone Paddocks they came up with the part straight off. My Defender is fairly much original other than a Salisbury axle on the front which I had fitted. Now getting to the stage where I have to look at the wear in the transmission & drive train etc. As its going off to Morocco again.

He doesn't put a phone number on the website (very strange), so I googled the company name. One of the directors is James Holton and then found this in BT online directory enquiries

are we all talking about the same company, because I went to their site, and the number is at the bottom of every page, as well as on their "contact" page

I was at their place personally a few months ago...seemed quite helpful and professional, but never bought anything since...everything I wanted was cheaper from paddocks and island 4x4

I've bought a few things off them with no probs, I've done a bit to my 90 though so always check the parts regardless of what the site says. I've not had to return anything though, I know companies change once a refund is mentioned

I've bought a couple of things from them, as the post cost is good to here. Paddocks charge £16 unless you spend over £50 so no use for small stuff.

No problems so far and helpful. Not like a certain LR spares place in Liverpool who had nothing in stock.

I have never been charged more than £5 for shipping to France by Paddocks. I did have to pay double once as what I ordered was over weight.
I have just checked my last order which is a total of £40 including the £5 shipping.

I quote from website..

"
AREAORDER VALUE GBPDELIVERY CHARGE (EXC VAT)VAT
UK ISLAND (NOT INC CHANNEL ISLES)LESS THAN £50 (EXC VAT)£16YES
UK ISLANDS (NOT INC CHANNEL ISLES)OVER £50 (EXC VAT)£8YES
CHANNEL ISLANDSN/A£10 PER 30KG PARCELNO

Can't believe France is cheaper! But then the boat trip is shorter. :-(

I've bought stuff off them via ebay and have to say no troubles with them for my purchases.

+1. I have bought stuff of them quite often through ebay and twice they have sent me the wrong thing, but always let me keep it and sent the new thing first class.

Once I got to keep a wing mirror

Well they wanted me to send mine back at my expense and I would have to pay for the shipping of the correct item.
I can only relate to my experience with them.
