Wheel arch repair

Help!, need to repair outside of rear wheelarches. Both rusted away behind doors. I've seen repair panels for D1, these wont fit a D2 will they?. Any help appreciated.

I've never seen any D2 repair panels for this area as they don't normally suffer rust to the same extent as DI cars do.

Pictures will definitely help - get yer arse in gear and post lots of pics if you want any help.

Well I don't mean to sound rude or aggressive but if the guy wants help then "get yer arse in gear" seems like a reasonable, light-hearted hurry-up comment.

If there is a problem with the wheel arches I want to know for my own personal use, as I've had my TD5 for 10 years and the body is tip top

With mine I regularly run a finger around the inside of the lip of the arches, to ensure no muck or rust-generating crud on the inside. Surprising how much comes off even though I do it regularly.

Had mine 7 yrs and second owner. Its an 01 on a Y and now starting to show signs of wear. Small rust spots above windscreen (dealt with these as they show but ongoing). Corrosion around lower rear quarter where mudflap bracket bolts to body (luckily hidden under plastic wheel arch and side trim) and worst of all, corrosion around nearside Alpine window on roof. Thinking of removing all roof fitments and Alpines and getting it painted. Up until these issues, I was forever getting complememted on how good the car looked for its age.

Sorry, been nightshift so havent got pics yet. If it helps its the part of rear outer arch which is covered by the rubber door seal when door is closed. The lip of the arch.

What about finding a scrapper and cutting that bit out, then weld it into yours. Quite surprised at that actually.

Its the same on the other side, although not as bad. Was wondering if the repair panel for D1 could be rivited over it?.

I would not go to the trouble of finding replacment repair panels since it's just the edge. Just cut it off, shape up some plate and wield on. Paint, seal, job done.
