BMW 330D into 2.5 DSE

HI guys, well been offered bmw 330 diesel engine and just wondered if anybody has put one in a p38 dse or is it just to much messing about or to much for the auto gearbox.

You would need the HP24 box at the very least and there would be some serious electronics to sort. It's another crap engine, the TdV6 is a better option and has been done as has the M57.

Thought is was larger capacity? Don't know without Googling it. OK it's the same! 245bhp 520Nm, should feck the transmission PDQ.

Think the X5 had a different capacity

X5 had the M57N fitted
Which was the higher powered model

Thanks guys, woz just a thought, sounds like it would cost a fair bit to do, might still get the engine and all the bits and put it on the back burner for now and look into it when ive got the car fully sorted.

It has been done, just drop it in place and go to rallyraid.co.uk to get the electronics modules to sort out the engine management and gearbox (if it´s an auto)

Cheers for that, will have a look on there site, ive got all the wiring looms and ecu for the engine an the engine is ready to go, woz just the gearbox I wanted to change as the standard one will not be upto the job.
