LED bulbs

OK, I've bought some LED bulbs to replace my front indicator and brake bulbs. As I've fitted a CAF it will obstruct access to the 'lamp replacement hatch' under the front guard. LEDs seemed a logical solution.

From my browsing here I see I have to add a resistor to each LED 'bulb' fitted or swap my indicator relay unit for a solid state one.

Three questions:
1 what size resistor is needed and where is if fitted. I guess it goes on the power feed to the lamp holder?

2 If I swap the indicator relay unit can any tell me specifically what I need?

3 I've also got some LED festoon bulbs for the interior - will they work with the ECU?

Can't help with the first 2.

As far as interior LED'S i have done all mine and not had a problem

i've fitted led's to ..

side lamps
fog lights ( chose lower power ones primarily to use as 'drl's .. not tried them in foggy conditions .. am expecting them to useless as such )
rear tail/stop lights

didn't need resistors adding

i was under the impression that resistors are needed on vehicles
that have a bulb-out warning system .. ( canbus ? )

and fitting led's for indicators can make them flash too fast .. or not work on some vehicles ?

You can measure the resistance of the 21 watt bulb. But I reckon a large wire wound 10 ohm resistor will work.

Resistance is needed on the indicator circuit for the indicators to flash at the correct speed.
Error free Led bulbs do have a resistance so that the bulb failure system doesn't register a blown bulb. These error free led's don't allow for correct flash rates on the Freelander so an additional load resistance needs to be applied.
