My Adrian Flux/ULR insurance claim woes!

I haven't finished checking around yet this year but my current best quote is £70 cheaper than the £350 that flux are currently quoting me.

Flux do usually step up to the challenge and match the best quote that I've had though to be fair.

If it wasn't for this one case throwing doubt on the proceedings I would generally stay put. I can't believe this isn't settled yet. The amount of bad feedback and people like myself who are now unwilling to risk using flux, surely it would've been in flux's best interest to just bite the bullet and sort this claim out.:confused::confused:

My renewal is this month and I'm not sure that Flux are providing any members here with high hopes of competence in the result of a claim. Making a claim is bad enough but doing so when they can't/won't deal with it properly gives one the jitters:scratching_chin:

By the way, what exactly is the forum discount?

And charging £25 to change the address on a computer is taking the proverbial...

Bump, when you say business - are you referring to a commercial policy?

If you wouldn't mind, could you PM me your details & I'll look into this for you? As we should be able to offer the forum discount for you.

Thanks

Jordan

I'm half way through my policy, so, little benefit at present, however, yes, I mean a commercial policy, i.e. my Ltd business owns my Landy, I own the business, spoke to 2 different people at A/F and both said that forum discount couldn't be applied to business / commercial policies :(

When it is up for renewal this time, assuming i decide to stick with A/F i'll give you a shout to see what you can sort

nothing to do with a land rover, but I insured a 2 year old octavia vRS with adrian flux which was promptly stolen a week and a half later. I won't go into the case but I will just say that I would NEVER EVER use adrian flux EVER again!!!

Not sure how much I can say on an open forum, but lets say result is not what I would have hoped for - Fanny......?

A difficult situation as the forum is sponsored by said company, without saying too much a peice of paper at a cheap price is great until you try to claim and perhaps find support lacking.
Also £25 to amend a policy another rubbing point.

Personally I will no longer choose flux for my motorbike due to the experience's of forum members I trust to have given accurate information on cancelled policies with no refund etc.

Ultimately it is the persons own choice.

As yu say - its the OP's decision.

We should not, however, feel hampered in our comments because of a forum sponsor. If Accy & Roy feel that income is more important than an accurate reflection of a suppliers service then it will be a bad day for the forum.

If AF want to supply a reasonable service then all input is useful. No-one expects a company to be perfect, but it is an important reflection of any company as to how it reacts to a problem.
If a company reacts quickly and fairly, that is all anyone can ask.

In this case neither seem to have happened :(.

I'm with flux. Have been for many years. Never had to claim with them. Seeing freds like this where things go wrong, and stay wrong for such a long time is worrying. I have fully comp insurance which is quite difficult to find on a Freelander v6 which has been re-imported. Not many companies will cover it due to the re-import. Some like the AA refuse to cover it and even go to the extent of telling me they probably didn't understand me when I insured it with them previously for several years, with regards to the re-import status, when asking for a quote earlier this year. I have a headed letter from the AA at the time they insured ma hippo stating they knew it was re-imported. The AA were also confused by the "...heavily modified..." mods done (stronger sump guard) as they said vehicles heavily modified for oft road use are sometimes more dangerous as the mods are not approved. The coolant level sensor was also a massive concern. The issue of running mondo mode (front wheel drive only) due to failing vcu (hence vcu/props removed) worried them as this effects the manufacturers design of the vehicle. It does, but you only feel the effect whilst driving oft road or if you drive like a complete tit on corners etc. Flux were ok with the sump guard, coolant sensor and mondo mode. They also accepted my hippo has a LR UK spec thatchem immobiliser which most imported vehicles wouldn't normally have, as thatchem is UK only I think. I was never sure what it had before when asked so had to pay £45 per year extra but not anymore as I've now visually seen ma hippo's immobiliser, looked at the software version in it and also tested it by mistake to the extent it needed main dealer T4 help to allow it to start again.

Fred's like this one are a concern. I've seen others where recovery after an accident is an issue. It may only cover you to the nearest compound/garage. I asked about this during my last renewal earlier this year and was told this would probably be the case, depending on distance home and availability of recovery vehicles for the distance. To resolve this I'm with the AA breakdown and have been for many years. Even though they don't insure me my length of memberships covers me for recovery after an accident, back to my home, without the need of involving my insurance company. If this means a trip using several different recovery trucks (due to distance) it doesn't bother me. Getting home is the main thing. I also have a camera fitted to assist speeding up claims. Or at least giving me proof of what happened in the event of a claim, where my insurer isn't helping, regardless of who's at fault.

Cheap insurance is one thing but too cheap often ends in cover which is less than you would like. I expect to be feked over in the event of a claim with any insurance company I'm with. Purely down to the insurance industry seemingly to be dishonest money grabbers. The interesting thing peeps have mentioned on this fred is the other parties insurance company have settled claims without the use of your own insurance company. I can only assume this is done to keep down the cost of a claim where the other party is clearly at fault.

Hippo breakdown company will seek to recover costs from your insurer unless 3rd party

yes i agree completely,i have just had a good quote for my td5 from A Flux, but this situation that we all know about, plus others has made me wonder if it is not worth paying a tad more for a better aftercare package?.:scratching_chin:

I have just sat here and read through most of this thread. Has there been any further on the situation with the OP that can be mentioned on here or is it still ongoing in the back ground?

I don't own a vehicle at the moment but I am looking into getting one. At the beginning AF were number 1 on my list of insurers to call when the time came but now I am really thinking otherwise. But, is it likely to be the same with another insurance company? i.e. promise the world and your best mate until they take your money then don't want to know?

Ratty, do you mind if I drop you a PM regarding the other insurance company you mentioned?

A little confused and very put off AF right now. Particularly with them being a forum sponsor but many many pages being written about before they appear every now and again. Even waiting for (i think) 4 pages before their initial response!

having just read this entire thread and having insurance due for renewal in less than a month i know where i wont be going for a quote, i find the whole thing shocking and the lack of a suitable outcome is horrendous, think all the insurance parties involved should hang their heads in shame :(

Well you need to know the names of the 60 company's they sell for then That leaves you about 30 company's to chose from that they do not write for. They are just the broker/middle man doing the paper work

Lets just say the OP was given the run around for so long, she acepted a pitiful offer to enable her to get back on the road :( - not a good conclusion to a woeful catalogue of "not our problem" responses from AF & others.

It is irrelevant who the ins co is. The contract is between the op and AF. If it isnt, it begs the Q - whats the point of paying money to AF if they wash their hands of any responsibility.

Bit like a stock broker then. You give him money to invest, say company A , company A goes bad and does not make any money, Is it the brokers fault, company A went down the tube and you lost money?

Or, in the UK, like buying a pc from pcworld... and when it goes tits up, they say " feck orf and contact the manufacturer" :(.

**** service and couldnt care less attitude.
