Sunroof

My sunroof leaks - nothing new there. I can see a rusty frame when I'm sitting in the front seats. It has had the fuse removed and I'm quite happy about that.

But I want to check / clean those drain tubes the seal it up with a good silicone sealer. I guess I may need to remove the glass panel. Do I have to remove the hood lining to do that

The glass panel is accessible from the inside without removing the headlining. There are a few small screws securing the frame to the operating rails on each side.
To remove the complete assembly, the headlining needs to be removed, fiddly two handed job but quite doable. I removed my headlining a few months ago and took around an hour to remove and the same to refit. Just have a read of the procedure on RAVE

Ahh, I see. RAVE how do I get a copy of that? and will it work on a Mac?

2 plastic trims inside with 6 T25 torxs screws to remove glass pane , I cleaned the rust off then re-painted , Cleaned the seal and used silicon greased on it and so for it's not leaked !

The glass frame is not a waterproof fit to the main sunroof housing...hence the need for drain tubes. The sunroof housing is secured to the roof itself by several nuts and there is a seal between it and the body. These fixings are visible when the headlining is removed.
Not sure if RAVE will run on the Mac, others on here will confirm whether it's possible.
RAVE is a "Must Have" for all Land Rover owners and covers nearly all models.
It is downloadable or available on CD and definately runs fine on most versions of Windows. Perhaps it may be advisable to get an used laptop running Windows (Cheap enough & plenty about) to be sure of running it.
I would be more than happy to let you have a CD if you are able to cover the postage costs to NZ...just drop me a PM.

Its an ISO image of a CD, so you'll need software to 'mount' it as if it were an actual CD drive.

Its basically a series of PDF files - so as its PFDs in an ISO format you should be able to use it on MAC, but there is an exe setup program - which is for Windows.

On Windows, I use "Virtual CloneDrive" to mount the ISO as a virtual CD drive which works fine for me. Not sure where I downloaded it from, but this looks as good as any place...

That's pretty standard for the Freelander sun roof. The quick fix is to remove the fuse!!
The long fix is to completely strip the assembly down, clean all the parts of rust and dirt. Check the cables are free, replace if not and fit a new drive gear to the motor.
On reassembly lubricate the mechanism correctly and make sure the drain holes are clear.
Job done for a few years, although most people will choose the fuse removal option.
