Arse!
ive got 30 , 86 , 87 , 87a and 85 on my relay , i need to know which goes to switch , battery , accessory (spots) and earth.
any ideas?

Applications. The number in the bracket refers to the diagrams.
(1) 4-blade, this is the most common relay. Use for single circuit on/off applications such as spot lamps, horns, rear screen heater etc.
(2) 4-blade fused, similar applications to (1) but these have a replaceable fuse in the accessory circuit.
(3) 5-blade changeover, use for applications to change between two circuits, eg, electric aerials.
(4) 5-blade double make and break, to power two circuits which are independant when off.
(5) 5-blade twin make and break. Similar to (1) but with two blades at 87 feed.

Relays with diode (6&7).
These relays have a diode in the coil circuit to protect against voltage spikes in sensitive circuits. Supplied with loose bracket.

Micro relays.
These are smaller than the standard relays and have a different pin layout. Pins 30 & 87 are 6.3mm and pins 85, 86, & 87a are 4.8mm. With diode protection for sensitive circuits. No brackets on these relays.
MR25 dimensions: 23x15x26mm (excluding pins).

You dunt arf' expect people to be brainy dunt yer Daft.

Soooooooo, from what nobber says & what yer diagrams show, he appears to have a 5 blade change over, which is fine but he only needs to take the power to accessory off of either 87 0r 87a & for safety's sake insulate the other blade?

Meaning:
30 to Battery Positive
85 to switch
86 to earth
87 or 87a to accessory

Is that right? Correct as applicable!

I think yu just proved yu dont have to be brainy to work it out, Marcus:D
exactly as you said - but 87 is preferred take off. 87a can be secondary take off for second item (2nd light or summat) or the n/c (normally closed) contact. If using a relay holder (preferred method) no need to insulate 87a as it is protected inside of holder.
Easy to check if a changeover relay or not - connect summat to 87 and summat else to 87a - if only one works at a time its changeover, if both work together it is secondary take-off. Or use a Multimeter;)

duz that help?

that depends.
If its a change over relay (3 above) then one will be on all the time and the switch will switch to the other. So No.
If it is a double output relay (4 & 5 above) then Yes.

how do you manage that?? as the earth is rotating abart 1000ish mph. has fitting this relay allow you to have warp drive in yer landy?
do the spade connectors used have the same pyhsical abilities as a di-lithium
crystal?
would you lik eto see a piccy of my chesse sandwich?
are you confusing daylight with the light generated by passing a lectric **** through a thin wire?

ive just built a device that enables me to bend space and time.:)
it also enables me , at the flick of a switch , to have 300 watts of daylighter blasting oot the front of me landy.
