I recently had an alternator problem which I fixed by replacing it with a second hand one.

I am now looking to see if I can refurbish/repair my original alternator (nothing wrong with the replacement one).

But, I do not know which kit to buy or where from.

The alternator I have is a Bosch 150

model no. 0 123 520 022
NC - 14V 90 - 150A
(LR part no. ERR 5834)

The regulator is part no. 1197311549 - EL 14v. Now I cannot seem to find this part anywhere.

I know that you can just change the brushes but am confused by which brushes to buy.

Its from a 2000 4.6 Vogue.

I would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance

Just put the part number into Google. Do you not have any starter/alternator refurbishers in your area that would be the place to go or a motor factors but you maybe have to be trade depends how they work down there. My local place Ribblesdale auto electrical will have them give them a ring or look here. Ribblesdale Auto Electrics Units Ltd - Home There is an Irish guy on Ebay that sells refurb kits bearings, slip rings, controllers the lot. Do a search.

Wammers, I have been.

However, I finally found a site on ebay that had the brushes that a meant for my alternator.

So I have ordered them.

In preparation I have drilled out the old ones (keeping the springs in tact!!).

One final question - is there a specific type of solder I must use to solder the brush wires in?

Cheers

Least i would fit if bearings are good is a regulator. Maybe clean the slip rings in the lathe. Any flux cored solder will do the job.
