make or buy new brake pipes

Finished the axle rebuilds this weekend, so just have to wait on my new chassis to arrive
so im going through my list of things to buy ect
I was thinking about making my own brake pipes but i dont have the tool to flare the ends etc

so is it worth buying the kit and doing my own or buying a complete set
or is there any member who would be willing to make me a set for a fee

Slightly different to what your saying. But i had copper brake pipes made up by a local motor factor, that is generally very good trade prices for stuff.

But, in the end its actually worked out more expensive having them made up, than buying the pipe/unions and flaring too. Halfords sell 25ft of pipe for £10.
Basically i wish i had made my own.

I've got one of these flare tools, Franklin Tools Hand Held Brake Pipe Flaring Tool AF2003 3/16: Amazon.co.uk: DIY & Tools perfect flares every time. Use cunifer tube not copper, there are a number of stories on the web about copper tube failing in service, although I've never actually met anyone who had a copper pipe fail.

Depends how much you going to spend on a tool, I paid £80 for two tools so in the end it cost more to make them but in the long run it will be cheaper

I'm making my own. You can get a cheap second hand flaring tool off ebay. New pipe benders and cutters are cheap but you could also get these second hand.

It's nicer to use, easier to straighten and form, and doesn't work harden as much as copper.
