Cheers for the replies as, you can tell iam new to this forum so to answer the following questions, i cant hear a whining noise and i have left it to cool down but it still wont start.I have changed the crankcase breather filter about two weeks ago, could it be anything to do with that thanks andy

No whining from the back of the car.... You've not left the kids in then :D

On a slightly more serous note, the TD4 has a low pressure fuel pump which you normally hear when you turn on the ignition. No sound could possibly mean it isn't working, so it will never start.

I can't tell what year your car is, so do a search on low pressure fuel pump.

That would be my first guess.

Yup, no whining noise=no fuel pump. Check the relays as said if still nothing then new fuel pump. Its under the rear off side wheel arch. About £100 to buy and easy enough to fit. Might as well replace the filter next to it while your at it.

I think i have introduced myself now.As you can tell im not that good with computers, think my nine year old knows more than me. I will check on all the advice given to me and try it out.My car is a 2002 model diesel.Cheers again for all the replies.

Good luck wiv it.

If you follow advice and let us know exactly what is or isn't happening and exactly what you have done we should be able to offer some pointers. The more detailed you can be in your descriptions the better we will be able to help!

:D

Check the pump on the inner wing next to the filter is working.
Mine did exactly the same as yours.
I wiggled the wire and it fired up.
Cleaned the connector ,been fine ever since.

Freelanders need a Priest not a mechanic.

Iam just letting you no that with all your advice my freelander is now running as normal again.I appreciate every reply back i had.The problem was cured by wiggling the wire by the pump next to the filter as webley 2000 had advised, cheers mate you were spot on.thanks again to you all;)
