Heard good things about rustoleum. Is that the stuff you dont need to apply primer?

Yep, I'm using it without a primer. Seems like good stuff.

I can't stop looking at that chassis... its just so shiny!!!!!!!!!

:p I'd agree with that.

Well going slightly off aarons topic i have a ingersoll-rand BP2/50 uk compressor but no idea what it can and can't do and google aint up to much lol.. what compressor do you use aaron and is your paint gun gravity fed?

I'd guess it's a 50l one.
I use a 100L compressor and yes I use a gravity fed gun.
As I say my compressor struggles to keep up hence why I'm painting it in bit's.
What are you wanting to do? Paint your 90.

Not to bad of a colour in fairness be nice with black roof. How much is it per tin ?

As you say "Not to bad of a colour" It's not what I wanted but it has grown on me a hell of a lot since opening the tin.
Oh and to much. £70 for a 5L tin. But you all know how tight us Yorkshire folk are

But then again i was in johnstones/leyland yesterday getting some paint for on site and a guy come in and said do you you still sell 'this gloss product' she said yeah its £98 plus vat. He said no thanks and walked off lol

Not yet, i think ill roller paint mine if i do.

Ah fairy snuff

Yes maybe you are tight but 70 notes is dear for 5ltrs what paint is it mate?

It's 2k paint. So proper automotive stuff. Like what a professional spray painter would use.
Pretty sure you wouldn't be allowed to use it on site.
2k contains isocyanates and you're meant to wear an air fed mask.

So I got the tub in primer first thing this morning, flated it and got some colour on it :)
Looks ok, But I've ended up with a few pin holes somehow :(
Not the best pic's. I'll get some more tomorrow when it's fitted.

Looking good mate (again).....

You could of at least put up a pic of you looking rather ****ed off :p

Looks pretty good to me, but I know from your previous build thread how high your standards are. :) Very much enjoying this thread so far, thanks for posting.

Pin holes? Did you degrease properly?

Yep, Same as I always would. Washed. Panel wiped twice. and tack clothed.
Looks better this morning now it's dry so panic over :)

Cheers :) Pretty sure no one want's to see my ugly mug on here.

Oh and the colour looks very nice there mate.

'tis dark in the garage so colour looks darker than it is.

Arron you using any fish eye remover in your paint. How did the siliconed metal come off?

Nope, Never needed to in the past.
Silicone came using a variety of tools, heat, knife blade, sandpaper.
Don't think that caused it to be honest as it's not near it. Although I suppose it wouldn't take much to spread it about.
Anyway panic over as it looks a lot better now it's fully dry :)

Yep as above much happier with it this morning :)
Glad you're enjoying the thread. I actually enjoy writing it, So hopefully people enjoy reading it :)

So todays progress is as follows :)

So needing to get the tub fitted. I thought It would be a good idea to fit the front to rear brake pipe and the exhaust. Well it saves me rolling about on the floor after ;)

Anyway in Richards wisdom there is no holes in the chassis for the brake pipe clips.
So it was done like this instead.

Inset rivnut in chassis.

This is what I use to fit them, Really handy tool to have if not a little big.

Used rubber lined P-clips and fixed to chassis.

Next job was to get the wiring loom in the dash.
With me having a td5 bulkhead the loom is routed different to the earlier tdi's
So took a few measurements of the old bulkhead
Used this to drill a 44mm hole. courtesy of work :D

AHHHHHH birds nest

Started fitting the dash. It's a bit of jiggery pokery as the dash fixes different to the td5 dash. So a few rivnuts and self tappers hear and there and it should fit eventually.
If I'd have thought about it more I'd have done it before I fitted the loom but hay-ho.

And I've gained mi' self a new spanner :D dropped out of the bottom dash panel
