I was told that they were all the same, using same callipers and pads.

I know that my old '84 110 had bigger callipers so I saved them and put them on my 90.

Today I came to change my other 90 brakes over for some refurbished 110 callipers and side by side the callipers looked similar so I was a little disappointed but on examining more closely fount that the 110 has much bigger pistons and the chambers are bigger so more fluid in them.
Pads side by side show just how much more braking power the early 110 had over the 90.

These are older callipers, both 90 and 110 are pre 1992 so maybe the newer ones had the same as Disco?

pre 300 tdi 90 had smaller calipers ,300 tdi on 90 had the same larger calipers as 110

I see, thanks James.

Wondered why they didn't standardise callipers with the Defender and Disco, but there again some Disco's had dual line brakes, I had a 93 Disco with twin flexis on front and then a 97 300 tdi with single line brakes, must have been an option:)

300 was were they did rationalise a lot of parts between disco and defender ,but defender brakes remained larger

110 callipers certainly stop my blue 90 very well, don't need discs on back but going to anyway rather than waste my spare disco axle:)

So, Am I right in saying that my 300tdi Disco axles that are going under my offroader will have the same brakes as a Disc brake Defender 90 on the back but the front brakes will be smaller?

yes though you could fit the larger defender calipers on front if you wanted

Cool. hardly much need for it on an offroader though I suppose unless I get a pair of calipers very cheap or for free sometime :)

Only thing I'd be worried about though is will the current setup feel funny with a Defender master cylinder? Not sure if I still have the Disco MC, think I might have left it on the body when I weighed it in.

Think you will need 110 master cylinder, don't know for sure.
Mine has a little more pedal travel than it did but not excessive:)
