p38 key fob again

well what a great forum im a new member just picked up my p38 and love it me and ethel took it for a good run and guess what,youve got it it has all the faults you can think of it bongs when u put the windows up,the dash tells u you have a bulb out but you havent but who cares. any way just one question for now

its a 2002 4.0ltr, is it as traumatic as everybody makes out to change the key fob batteries.one fob works great the other doesnt work i think the batteries are goosed as the light doesnt light up any body help thanks

pretty easy but get the refurb kit as you may damage the lid, plenty on the bay Range Rover p38 94-02 Flip Key Remote Alarm Refurb Kit | eBay

Windows just need setting, all the way down & hold button for a couple of seconds, all the way up and hold the button and you should get a message "Window Set" You have to do each window.:welcome2:

thanks will try that later with the windows. bloody good heater in these things better than the bmw just been out this morning to take my son to work. just one thing the suspension takes a wee while to set itself any ideas boys

Knackered compressor and leaking airbags is the norm

any body know if there is till a back log for getting a new fob from the dealers. mine is beyond repair. it will cost a fortune but there you go

Can get complete fob cases on ebay too
Just transfer your circuit board into it and swop the key blade and it looks like brand new

I bought my new case on every, once the key is in the ignition press the remote and it synchronises. I've repaired my second fob cheaply.

Only on the later P38's with the passive coil in the ignition barrel.

just been having a look on the forum and the fob has a piece missing out of it. to be honest l think i will get a new one then l have piece of mind it will work dont mind spending the money if it works. but a friend said there is a back log from the dealers.as i work away need two keys just in case ethel wants to pick it up during the week . tell you what you guys know your rangies

You shouldn't get a bulb failure warning with 100 watt bulbs -
I've run 100/90 without warnings.

HI , theres no backlog just take your log book plus i.d. to your nearest main dealer pay whatever "mine cost £128.00 all in " wait 3/4 days dealer will text or ring you when it arrives ,,,, order is direct to huff in Germany then item goes overnight to Coventry then overnight to your dealer job done ... go and collect , plug n play no diagnostics needed ..a big P.S. make sure you order key 4 ,,:crazy_driver::crazy_driver::crazy_driver::crazy_driver:

thanks mozz will do we live out in the sticks so two keys are a must,when that is sorted its off for its lpg conversion anyway odd to work later boyz.

I know that's normally the way to go if you've got one working key so don't want to duplicate it when you buy a new one. But if he's only got one key and he's replacing that one and getting a spare why shouldn't he get other numbers. If he's got memory functions isn't key 4 the one that doesn't operate these?
