hi all

just a quick one ,even when my car is up to temp the hot air coming out of heater is very poor !!!! could i have air in the system and if so is there a bleed valve on any of the heater pipes ? (i no renault cars have them )

and if so where ? i have a 2002 td4

cheers
griff

Mate had a corsa I looked at the other day same fault but his matrix was full of crap

A good hour of high as possble tap pressure to flush it out and was a big improvement not perfect so he heeds a new matrix to do it properly

to be honest i ordered a new pollen filter the other week but still not arrived ,i did pull it out and give it a good hoover to try and clean it

the air flow is poo and the temp seems poo

been having a look online and i think theres a bleed valve on the td4 ,maybe theres a air lock in the heater?????

There should be a bleed screw in the heater water pipe. My V6 suffers a rubbish heater unless I keep the revs above 2500 rpm.

Start with the one into bulkhead , Just don't undo fully and lose it

cool thanks for pic i will look for it :) (looks like a easy find)

do i need engine running/heater of full when i open the valve?? and close again once water starts coming out ?

What's the tenp gauge like? Temp gauge should sit exactly halfway, if not then it could be the thermostat.
Can always temp remove the pollen filter and see if that makes any difference?

Heater on full engine on tickover, make sure you have plenty of coolant in the bottle

temp gauge does go to half but takes ages to get there , sits at 1/4 for ages but in end gets to 1/2

When driving normally does the temp gauge get up to middle, or is it only when idling that it gets up to the centre?

It does obviously take longer in cold weather to warm up.

My heater was useless and air output not great. Just had a new heater matrix fitted (dash out job) and the garage have sorted it out. Soooo much better now. In general driving, on the multiple short journeys I am doing for work at the moment, the heater dial needs to be around 11 o'clock or it is too hot in the car!

I have also had a new oem thermostat fitted recently as well. No complaints now from me re the heat output of my car.

take it having the heater rad done is a big job then lol if dash has to come out :-(

are the heater matrix ££££££s or is it just ££££s to have them changed?

well drove 35 miles today and this is where my temp gauge sat all the way
(it is -13 here today but surly it should still reach 1/2 on the gauge?)

does this mean my thermosate needs changing ??? :-( im sure i read thats a pig of a job on the td4 :-(

is this the thing im looking for if i need to change it?

Can always do the Renault 5 mod? If it's -13 I'd be tempted to secure a bit of plastic or something over the bumper to stop so much cold air going through

think i will try putting something in front of bumper esp seeing they say its going to get colder over next week or so

but whats the renault 5 trick /mod??????????

yep after doing some reading about the mod , yep i think thats def worth a try ,will prob fit the correct thermosat at a later date but till then i think this mod should do the trick:):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

thanks for everyones help :)
