How do I tell the difference if it's a late series 111 and an eairly 110 defender, It's a station wagon has leaf springs an the instrument cluster on the left
(left hooker) Ahh, no papers so no help thier, Remember I'm new to the wonderful world of Landys

The front grill is level with the wings an the grill is plastic but some one put a 6 pot in it so the grill could of been moved forward,
Any difference in the chassis between a series 111 an a stage 1? Also it has no movable vents under the windscreen

The series III chassis was modified by moving the grille, radiator and first cross-member forward, deleting cross-member number two, making the cross-member under the gearbox removal, and cutting away the cross-member behind the transmission to clear the prop' shaft.

Axles are standard series III but with 3.54:1 differentials and with Range Rover style constant velocity joints in the steering swivels, on account of the constant four wheel drive.

Yup I can see now it's a stage 1, with a six pot instead of the V8
also it's not a constant 4WD any more as it has a Nissan box I imagine the
transfer is nissan too, on a closer inspection looks like the rear axel has been
cut an shut to give to prop shaft a straight run, here's a few pic's

So if thats not a Land rover fear axel I imagine this isnt a Land rover
front axel, what do you think. the gearbox cross member dosent look original either

I have no history for this landy, the last owner died a year ago an his wife is no help. I'm going to have to identify the parts sooner or later or buying spares will be impossible.
