All of my ABS, TC and Hill Decent light are illiminated with nothing working, I've been told it's my ABS modulator. Can they be overhauled by a home mechanic or is it a case of getting a new one?

Very rarely does a modulator play up, have you had T4 connected to it at a dealer? Normally its the brake light switch that causes the lights to come on.

Other less common causes are wheel speed sensors or wheel bearings.
Accelerometer (lives next to the handbrake lever)
Throttle cable adjustment (1.8 & V6 only)

With regards to overhauling a modulator, the simple answer is no! No parts are available for them.

I had mine tested as i have the same propblem, it was apparently the ABS ECU. £700 odd to replace, had it done and the lights still come on when they feel like it. Funny haven't come on fro a while, normally happens if it's wet out, but they seem to have been ok for a month or so now. Gremlins in the ABS i think :)

I had the same on mine about a year ago, all 3 lights on, turned out to be the acceleration sensor (under the arm rest box behind the hand brake)
Easy job to fit.

Cost about 50 quid, did need the system to be reset after to turn the lights off.

Because mine come on and go out of their own accord it's almost impossible to find out what's causing the problem. I just live with it now, I say "hello" to them when they light up. Well I used to swear at em, didn't stop the problem so I just accept it.

If you can't beat them, join them.:p :p :p

is it a dealer job to reset it or a diy job
thanks

when i had the prblem the lights didn't come on all the time, jsut at random when they felt like it!

I took mine into a landrover specialist to get it reset, they have the box to plug in and do the job.

Not heard of any ways to reset it yourself.

Hi, Rather than spend a lot of time paying money to Land Rover workshops who (according to anecdotal evidence posted in this forum) don't know much about their product, here are some things to check.
Battery connectors, including earths, fuse connectors, HDC switch wiring, speedo connector etc.
Check connectors to each wheel speed sensor. Each time you start your car and drive the ABS TC etc runs a self check and makes sure it's receiving a signal from each speed sensor.
Check the sensor rings, make sure they're not dirty or cracked.
Hope this helps. Let me know how you go.
