Yep, 2 different software modules, pre and post EGR, you have to have the correct software module. You also have to fit the correct EDC for the year of car as far as I'm aware as things like the needle lift sensor are different. I'm sure you know all that though Tony.That maybe his problem then it's 1998 and will have EGR.

Yes Pre EGR and EGR ECUs are different. The Pre EGR ECU will be looking for Inlet air sender that is not there, and won't know a thing about the EGR modulation valve or MAF.
