extended wheel arch kit advse required

There's somebody in the US that does extensions that fit onto the original arches that look pretty tidy. I can't remember who makes them though

To be fair... I've seen alot worse choice of big rims on a Defender than those. Still not my cup of tea but they don't look completely wrong on it.

Yeah, aaronmorris is correct. The filler would expand like teenagers spot and eventually fall out. When you put extended wheel arches on something like an escort MkII you first pop rivet the arches onto the body, then you glass fibre them on, then you drill out the pop rivets and glass fibre over that. If you don't, the rivets eventually pop out of there.

You could try something like Sugru or Sikaflex perhaps, but it probably wont last.

Might get away with black silicon smoothed off with a wet edge, but will still be noticeable

Extensions might be the best way to go, fitted to your standard arches:
