That is not the heater core sensor it is the heater temp sensor. Core sensor is a long thin probe that is pushed into a grommet and twisted to lock just to rear of distribution motor. That item should look like this.

I haven't heard anyone outside our workshop use the term Avo in years.....glad to hear it is still in common parlance.
The last Avo made in 2008...sad!

So I removed the Core Temperature Heater Sensor
Two things?
1) This is what came off (photo), is there a bit missing? A silver bit to form the loop over the pipe?
2) I put the avo meter on the two prongs to check continuity, no reading, assuming I should get a reading of 1?
Thanks.

According to RAVE it measures the temperature so it will be a negative coefficient resistor (Thermistor) You may need the meter on a fairly high ohms range to get a reading, the reading should change as you heat or cool the sensor, the hotter it is, the lower the resistance![]()
I'm surprised it dropped to zeroPoured hot water on it and the needle climbed. As it cooled the needle dropped, although it dropped to 0 rather suddenly. Probably ok. However since the clip is missing, purchased a new one to be sure.
I'm surprised it dropped to zeroI don't have a specification for the device, what ohms reading do you get when it's hot?
Hard luck, touch the pipes and the old O rings always seem to start leakingQuick up....I seemed to have upset the echo system when I fitted the sensor!! The Pipes in to the matrix are seeping!!!! O-ring job to do at some point!!!! Hopefully, seeping then stop!!! Will keep a watch!!
