Anyone used a £50 drive shaft?

Ok so I've had a look into the cause of the vibration I've been getting under load. It looks like the tripod joint has failed, there is a lot of slop. I've also noticed the boot is leaking at it's joint which is the likely cause. I'm thinking about fitting a budget shaft. Has any one used either of these. I didn't normally go budget but at this point in time I simply can't afford a known brand.

as long as they are not from freelanderspares of Durham area I brought one many moons ago and was about to fit it after 2 weeks on the bench and it was all rusty no joking then there was the time I brought a vcu of them which has been well covered on here ,we reckoned that the shaft was a second hand one and just been tarted up so be care full

Not from Freelander spares.

I have fit 2 from a firm call J & R drive shafts, both went it 2 years ago and no problems

I bought one for my Saxo from these people , it was 29 quid delivered and is ok so far.

2 year warranty as well on no exchange, free delivery for mine and arrived next day

Model year makes no difference but engine type does. The V6 and TD4 use the same shafts. The 1.8 L series also share the same shafts.
We'll see how it goes when I fit it.

Sorry buddy but in 2003 the abs sensor position was changed as was the bearing layout and functionality

You are correct. The ABS sensors stopped using the passive sensor and the earlier reluctor ring setup fitted to the outer CV joint. The later system uses active sensors and magnetic wheel bearings instead. I believe all the shafts are the same, you don't need and can remove the reluctor rings that are filled to the new shaft.

Ahh right, the gkn part I'm trying to source doesn't have the ring. Also the bearing geometry in pre and post 2003 is different, as post, includes a 'button setup', which landrover wont release the details off to aftermarket manufactures. Hence people who have fitted the cheaper parts still have the vibration.
In now remembering the year of your car, you shouldn't have this issue, I on the other hand have to pay £150-£170 for a shaft as mine is a 2005. Do you not need the ring then? Still don't know the part number for a gkn part.
