But if he can work 3 solid days on a car for £400 its a great price, he might be able to do it in a day

Just had a chat with my mecanic mate and its not good news.
turns out most of the pipes including the fuel lines have had it
hes said the body needs lifting to do it right cos the pipes are between the body and chassis and as such he thinks hes gona have to lift the body an inch or so? Does this sound right? Hes quoted me mates rate and a favour at £400 3 days labour but hes having to cancel jobs and rent a lift to do it so cant do it any cheeper
ive asked him about running them in a easyer route and basicly he wont ! Says its not worth his reputation

There is a back up you choose to ignore the fluid level message if the pump come on then it will be like bleeding the brakes via your hole . When the pump activates if there is a hole or a bleed nipple open fluid will expel !

I think he may have never done a p38 before.

My advise would be to get a full pipe kit (Automech?) I'll look it up if need be.

Then a simple job. You will need to drop tanks but straight forward. To do all.
While your at it you could waxoil the underside also.
do it once and forget it for ever.

fuel pipes are not plastic they usually only corrode above tank but you can fit 2ft of new pipe with a joiner,its not a hard job at all even if it needs all brake pipes & flexys you can do it all in a day that inc making up your own pipes & plenty of cups of coffee,basically as wammers said hes having you up the shushter & I doubt the bill will finish there when he cant undo the body mountings

if you have to, then make sure you don't have new ones that can rust and ensure good quality OEM flexibles.
ensure he changes all and every bit of them

He means make sure the pipe used is Cupro nickel. That is the very best brake pipe.
