What did you do with your Range Rover today

Sounds like you have a battery Maintainer ie keeps it topped for little use,not for charging flat baterys !
Where as a battery charger it for charging flat battery's and in general is a much bigger unit than a maintainer and I've just looked at my charger and it pumps out way more than yours and it still only a trickle charger type.11amp rms and 2.3 for bike battery's
RMS = Root Mean Squared and applies to AC not DC, charger output is DC. 11 amps is not a trickle charger and will cook a car battery if left on for too long.
 
48 hours? Bugger. So at 8ish on Monday I can take it off charge and see if she spins.
Me thinks a new charger is in order then.

Shoulda kept my old Escort. Never had battery problems with that.



It does say it is a charger. But IIRC, it is about 30 years old and cost £5 from a local parts place.

I would not connect that to any car with electronic systems. it quotes RMS figures which as like as not means the output is not pure DC but half wave AC.

Think my new TV has been cancelled so I can get the proper receiver though. £277 is rip off amounts, but needs must. :(

I have whatever was standard for a 1999 UK P38. To my knowledge it has never been changed.

How is that guy selling them for £106 though? o_O

I would guess you have the MK2 receiver but it could be a MK1 knowing LR's habit of using up the old stuff in changeover years. Mines a late 2000 and has the MK2 receiver, which touch wood is OK at the moment.

Well I have a transitional P38 so it had the updated electronics, plastic intake manifold, but still rocking pre-faclift lights. So it could be any ones guess what receiver I have.

Duno worth a phone call tho that parts finder is handy in conjunction with the part numbers you can see who's got one and where;)

True, I'll have to have a looksee.
 
Just got back from a weeks holiday with the family towing a folding camper (big old American thing vintage 1980) with my 1998 DSE manual. 700 miles round trip Plymouth to Bristol, London, Bath and back to Plymouth averaged 24.9mpg which I think is pretty good. Had one mad moment when an EAS fault came up on the dash while stuck in traffic on the M4, all the EAS height lights came up but nothing else happened. Stopped at a service station and fault disappeared. I do have the dreaded worn DMF which is a nuisance when trying to maneuver the trailer but apart from that a faultless trip.

Get it checked before it hard faults
 
Took battery off charge, waited 30 minutes and checked voltage 12.8v so seemed good. Dropped it in place, took P38 for a quick dash (about 30 minute drive), then figured I'd try that solar panel one last time. If the battery is flat on Saturday, it doesn't work.

Lets see what happens.

It won't if your car is draining the battery. Faster than the solar is charging why not leave the battery off with the solar and then you will know weather it works or that your battery is holding its charge.

That was my next option. I ideally need to keep my vehicle mobile at all times. But this months pay cheque comes in soon, I have no bills due either so I can plump on the Mk3 rF Receiver and be done with it all. Unless the battery is ****ered...
 
I decided that my light guards and door handles were looking a bit faded. So I bought some primer and satin black paint and got stuck in to the rear guards.

I am quite pleased how they have turned out.

For the door handles I bought some java black coloured covers off that well known auction site. They have worked a treat.

Next are the front guards and possibly the grill.

Now just waiting for the replacement nuts and bolts before I put them back on the car.
