Hi all basically caught my head gasket problem early on the obvious and very well built k series 1.8  ha started to miss fire checked oil and MAYO!

Not good anyway replaced the head gasket timing is spot on but I still seem to have a misfire in cylinder 2 all the others are running fine just the number 2 I don't have much kit but its definitely getting a spark compression seems to be ok and it's getting fuel, any ideas?? I left it idling for about 10 minutes to see if it would sort it's self out but it hasn't absolutely stumped on this one please help

rings suck possibly- half teaspoon of oil in bore and run up had it with several head gaskets it may clear

also are you sure you put cam pulleys on pins correctly if it runs weird

Yeah cam sprockets are definitely on properly I marked the top and placed it on the floor exactly how I took it off

Tried the oil trick and still nothing! Gutted this is really annoying me now so anyone else with any ideas?

So it's the dis system. There isn't really much that can go wrong. You have a spark, you have fuel and compression. Does the MIL come on?

Yeah the mil was on before I replaced HG occasionally flashes then stays on yeah I literally have no idea now I thought I've covered everything could it be because the system needs to be reset and mil turned off?

The best bet is read the codes, this will help you find the fault.

So quick update I read the codes today about 1000 on there misfiring in every cylinder and loads more almost as if I had the ignition on when I did the HG obviously I didn't though! But cleared the codes ran the engine no more codes still running rough and no pull in low revs took it to my mates house where we had another look and it turns out its the big end bearings which proves how **** this engine really is 20k miles on it and drove it about a mile with the water contaminated oil only to be able to be towed! So yeah people don't buy a petrol freelander they are ****e!! Should have known better!

You drove it intentionally with coolant in the oil and blame the engine when it packs up?
