Isn't this all a bit academic anyway? A caravan that size is going to hide your lights whether they are on a trailer board or under the bikes or on the roof.

Ignore the caravan, I'm talking about when I'm not towing. The picture with the caravan was the best I had showing the bikes mounted.

Just for clarification. A trailer board has triangles on it. A lighting board doesn't.
I have a pair of led stop/tail/turn lights that I bought on fleablag a while back. Until I've made my mind up where I'm gonna fit my rear work lights I'm holding off fitting em.
I generally use magnetic trailer lights when towing broken down vehicles. You could get a set and stick em on the crossmember. You could then bung a number plate on yer roof rack.
