Hiya guys and possibly girls (not sure if there is any)
Me again. Just wondering if any one has got/fitted a Double S exhaust system to a Range Rover. I brought one for mine a little while again and had major problems fitting it. Just getting her ready for th MOT and having even more trouble with it. drivers side tubular header seems to sit higher than passenger (at the collector end) so when trying to fit the Y pipe it is next to impossible. ( removed driver side header and fitted to Y pipe, then bolted to head). After doing this tedious bit the Y pipe is touching the round cross member under the gearbox.
When fitting the centre box onto the hangers only it touches the mounting bracket affixed to the chassis. Problem gets even worse when fitted to the Y pipe. Had to use a crow bar to move the Y pipe over enough to mate up.
Any advice would be very helpful.

For the price they charge and all the money they spend on advertising, the quality and fit should be first class. Give them a call and tell them of your woes. Sounds to me that something is not fabricated right. With all the computerised bending machinery, things should be dead on-after all a Bosal mild steel system goes together fairly easy.

Well I hope you get more joy from the man at SS exhausts than I did!
I enquired about a system for my V8 Disco and asked the guy alot of questions about it.
It would seem that although he knows how to make exhausts, he knows very little as to how the end result will be in terms of noise levels.
I wanted a nice V8 sound but was worried about a resonance that could occur at around 2200 rpm.
He ended up (despite me wishing to buy) turning down my business and refused to sell me an exhaust - bit odd considering the current economic climate.
I must say I found him to be some sort of rude, cantankerous old fart really.
If that reflects what his aftersales service is like then I wish you the best of luck!

I have just fitted double s exhaust bit of a pig with a bit passion and cups of tea it fitted ok it also sounds nice

Scott and Wilson do custom exhausts and they know about noise/sound also,

Get your ££ ready.

A total pain in the arse.
I've got one of theirs on mine. When I went to fit it the offside tubular manifold was incorrectly bent & fouled the starter motor. They sent another one.
The rear section should be a push fit with the rear of the silencer. Or it would be if the pipes had been correctly flared - they were virtually the same diameter & I got the expansion done locally.
Clamps etc & the olive that goes in the joint of the front pipe to the silencer are mild steel & I've had to replace them all.
The 'y' section was incorrectly bent & the silencer was angled up towards the floor. Straightened it out.
The pipework appears to be a different grade to the boxes. The boxes are nice & shiny & the tail pipe is still a shiny mirror like thing but the pipes are covered in surface rust - hasn't got any worse to be fair.
A short while after fitting the silencer started to rattle. I didn't want to drive down to their premises so asked them to SELL me a new silencer. I'm still waiting for a reply - that was about 10 years ago. I've still got copies of the letters. I modified the silencer with a lump hammer & since then it hasn't rattled. Doubt that did much for the warranty.
I'm trade & have sold & fitted quite a few exhausts over the years so its not pilot error.
Apart from that, its been fine...... Its a pity because its actually a good system & if it fitted as it should I would be happy to recommend them. Whether things have improved I have no idea but I wouldn't buy another one.
IIRC one of the magazines did a 'how we fitted one' years ago & had a number of fitting issues.
